EXPERIENCE AND FACILITIES
IGV GmbH is a German SME, working also as a private independent industry focused research institute with emphasis on applied research, analytics and training/education in the fields of microalgal biotechnology and food/ feed technology. Special directions are given by the biodiversity research of microalgae strains, novel harvesting and pre-conditioning techniques, innovative closed photobioreactor technologies, R&D&I targeted to functional product formulation and international training activity.
IGV’s photobioreactors are based on a more than 30 years of expertise in optimisation of microalgae cultivation processes and photobioreactor engineering. IGV’s Biotechnology Department is system provider for the complete scale-up technology from R&D laboratory screening systems up to photobioreactors suitable for microalgae mass production at large industrial scale. The range of our products spans from 2L reactor vessels to 160’000L photobioreactors – standardized and practice tested with the opportunity to scale the production facility to specific requirements. The technical principles of design and proven equipment enable a simplified handling and an efficient cultivation.
The fundamental idea for realizing the glass-tube modular photobioreactor is a thin layer of photosynthesizing cells. The choice of a tubular design for the photosynthetic part of the photobioreactor allows a space-saving vertical arrangement. Photobioreactors with high productivity and low space requirements are results of this concept.
IGV Biotech has developed itself into an equipment supplier for universities, research facilities and companies doing research in phototrophic biotechnology. The staff – natural scientists, constructors, technicians, engineers – has extensive and well-founded knowledge in procedural and installation development. They are also highly experienced in the research and analysis of active substances, and in novel product design.
